PC support specialist
Are you the sort of person that will fdisk and reinstall Windows the minute your new PC arrives? Do you check for latest graphics drivers on a regular basis, and can you recite registry keys off the top of your head? If so, we could have the perfect job for you: Providing front-line support for our XP and Vista PCs.
Overview
We require a responsible person to maintain and support our Windows PCs including deployment, documentation, backups, virus protection, Microsoft updates, security, hardware monitoring and hardware replacement.
Experience
You are not expected to have previous experience in a commercial environment. However, you are expected to be a natural at computing, and be able to pick up the required skills very quickly on-the-job.
Windows Technical Skills
You should have thorough understanding of the following:
- TCP/IP, basic routing and DNS
- Windows registry
- Drivers and Microsoft Updates
- The changes between Windows Vista and Windows XP
About 8Networks
All of the staff at 8Networks are enthusiasts, and have joined either straight from Uni, or have moved from other professions. It is not unusual to see staff on Jabber at all times of the day (and night), answering emails, or improving our systems.
About you
Aside from having excellent technical skills, you will be a responsible person and also have an eye for detail. Presentation is important, and you should have excellent command of the English Language.
